TCM & Five Element Acupuncture

Traditional acupuncture (TCM) uses the insertion of fine needles and moxibustion to help regulate and balance a person’s qi or energy, with the aim or restoring balance to the body. Techniques such as cupping, guasha and tuina can also be combined to enhance wellbeing and support the system on many different levels.

Five Element Acupuncture focuses on the connection between mind, body, and spirit. By correcting the imbalances between our five elements both physical and mental wellbeing can be restored. By establishing a ‘causative factor’, or a constitutional imbalance in one of our elements that is often our default reaction to stress or illness, the acupuncturist can treat the person at the very core of their being.

Acupuncture for Fertility

Trying for a baby can be a stressful time. Acupuncture may help support hormonal balance, blood flow to nourish the ovaries and uterus, and reduce stress during a journey that can be full of uncertainties. Acupuncture works with the monthly cycle and may support IVF and ART procedures during egg retrieval and embryo transfer, and may support side effects of treatments by bringing the body into balance - working with the organ systems, nourishing deficiencies and clearing excess pathologies. Several months of sessions may be required to work with monthly cycles.

Acupuncture for Menopause

In Chinese medicine, when a woman enters menopause it is viewed not necessarily as a deficiency or lack, but as a meeting of the energies of heaven and earth. The energy used during the monthly cycle in the lower body is gradually transferred to the upper body and becomes a source of wisdom and knowledge to be imparted!

This intensive process may be physically and emotionally challenging to navigate for some. Acupuncture may help support symptoms such as hot flashes, insomnia, anxiety, dryness, mood swings, brain fog and joint pain by bringing the body into balance, making this important life transition as smooth as possible.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an age-old technique used in traditional Chinese medicine to stimulate Acupuncture points or areas of pain or stagnation in larger areas of the body.

A vacuum is created inside the cup and placed onto the skin where treatment is needed, often several cups are used in one treatment in different areas to help the blood and ‘qi’ to flow more easily.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping can be used to improve pain and stagnation in the body, improving blood flow so the tissues can heal more quickly and toxins can be released from the body

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort prepared from mugwort leaves, to facilitate healing. The purpose of moxibustion is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi and maintain general health by drawing out toxins. It can be used to turn breech babies and treat cold and deficient patterns within the body.

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture (FEA), also known as facial rejuvenation or cosmetic acupuncture, is a protocol created by Paul Adkins which targets points and muscles of the face in order to improve the elasticity of the skin and general overall appearance, alongside addressing constitutional points on the legs, arms and body to balance and harmonise the inner elements.

As well as significantly improving the cosmetic appearance, facial acupuncture also has a strong whole body effect on the health and emotional wellbeing of the person treated, and has a long and distinguished history in Chinese medicine. A series of treatments is recommended for the best results.
