WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY?

Whether you need to de-stress, restore emotional balance, have a specific physical condition, or simply want to maintain good health, Craniosacral Therapy may benefit you.

I offer treatments that re-set the nervous system and harness the body’s own ability to transform itself back to its natural state of health, wholeness and clarity.

I work with the spine, skull, and body tissues to free nerve pathways and structural restrictions, enhancing the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. Long-held physical, emotional and energetic tensions are released with lasting effects.

Everything we feel, think and experience through life leaves its mark on our bodies.  True healing occurs when our scattered parts are held in a such way that we're able to realign and feel whole again.

Craniosacral Therapy can be used successfully both on its own and in conjunction with conventional medical treatment. It is safe, gentle and suitable for all ages.

ORIGINS:

Craniosacral Therapy has its roots in osteopathy and the work of Dr William Sutherland in the early 1900s. Sutherland discovered subtle movements in the bones, fluids and tissues of the body that are direct expressions of health. When these movements become compromised, ill-health may occur. Craniosacral Therapy facilitates the body’s natural ability to restore itself back to fluidity and good health.

WHICH CONDITIONS MAY BE SUITABLE?

Craniosacral Therapy may support a wide range of symptoms. Some of the conditions I have worked with are below:

  • Migraines and headaches

  • Babies and colic, tongue tie & torticollis

  • Sleep, stress and anxiety

  • PTSD, shock and trauma release

  • Hormonal imbalance, fertility and miscarriage

  • Back, neck and pelvic pain

  • Birth trauma in babies, children and adults

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorders

  • IBS and gut health

  • Dental misalignment & TMJ

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Tinnitus

  • Fatigue and energy realignment

  • Inherited patterns

WHAT HAPPENS IN A TREATMENT?

Treatments take place on a massage table fully clothed, and involve gentle, light hand-holds, although more physical processes can be applied. People experience relaxation, releases, sensations of tingling, heat and cold, and subtle movements occurring within the body.

Treatments last between 45mins to 1 hour, with a detailed consultation taken beforehand. The number of treatments required varies according to individual cases, I generally recommend 3-5 sessions close together and then to reassess how it is working for you.

You may need a little time to adjust immediately after the treatment. Changes may occur in the days following a treatment as the healing process continues. Suitable for all ages.

Have a look below at the part-animated short film I made for the Craniosacral Therapy Association explaining how Craniosacral Therapy may benefit you.

The people talking about their experiences of the therapy are some of my clients:

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle way of working with the body using light touch. People may come for Craniosacral Therapy because they have acute physical problems like headaches or bad backs, or longstanding problems both physical and emotional. Others come for ongoing support in their busy lives and for help to meet life's challenges.

Craniosacral Therapy is not intended as primary healthcare but to work alongside the relationship you have with your doctor. Registered therapists are accredited by the Craniosacral Therapy Association (CSTA) and use the letters RCST after their names.
